The Other Creative Girl!

We've been doing a few artsy and crafty things lately.
I'm sick of cold and uncomfortable weather that keeps us all inside.
Being inside turns to screen/tv/video time and its getting old.
So, until the weather turns nicer...and heck!...even after, we are being crafty and creative.

While Hannah worked on her bracelets, Jenelle finished a little project we thought up a few weeks ago.
We bought a few 8 x 10 canvas boards and some glitter.
Not your standard gold and silver glitter - we found neon colored glitter in a 6 pack!
This IS Jenelle we are talking about!
I suggested we cover a canvas with Mod Podge (crafter's greatest invention - this stuff is amazing!) and then cover the Mod Podge with glitter.
In my head I imagined a very abstract look.
I pictured her sprinkling glitter randomly all over the canvas, so I was surprised to see her laying it out in thick lines.
The end result was so pretty!
She had all her colors in rainbow order and after we let the glue dry a bit, we shook off the extra glitter and then sealed it with a Krylon spray made specifically to allow glitter to keep its shine.
After that dried, we were ready to hang her art.
A perfect addition to her glittery rainbow world!

Creative Girl!

Tucked away in her bedroom with her favorite music plugged into her ears...Hannah's been busy.
She's been making these fun bracelets!!

This one is mine and I love it!
I'm looking forward to wearing it out and getting lots of compliments!

It's Almost Time...

...for the kids to go back to school (insert music and happy dances all around the house)!

Tonight is "Move In Night" and we are ALL excited!  No, not just me...all of us...really!

There are lots of things I'll have time for soon.  I have lots of plans for things that need to get done and are just easier to get done without people around.

People who need to be fed and watered and entertained.

But, that's what summer's about and we've had a great one!  Got quite a bit of our summer list completed.
Now its time for routine and schedule and school work and house work...all good things too.
I'm also going to keep myself busy with crafty goodness on Etsy.
I'm currently working on a large sachet order for a wedding...sometime in October...somewhere in Cape Cod.

I kind of look at the back-to-school time as a second new year with a chance for resolutions.
I get my work-out routine going more consistently, get better at meal planning, do deep housecleaning and generally get busy on things I've put off for a while.

What are your "second new year" resolutions?

Back to Yak!

We've been away at our friend's family lake house in Idaho for the past few days.  Its such a wonderful place to be!
I have plenty of pictures to share from our trip, but first I thought I'd show a few pictures of things we found when we returned home.

Onions ready to be picked.  Lots and lots of onions

and an accidental pumpkin (a seed from last years compost pile) that has gotten bigger and oranger (word? doubtful.)

and a magazine in the mail...with ME in it!  Do you remember this post?  Well, here's the magazine...

here's my tag...

here's my name...

and here's me...

You should buy one today...really...you should...
Why?
Because the magazine is filled with instructions by really creative people for awesome handmade holiday gifts and ideas!
That's why!

So, time to catch up around here right now - fun vacation pictures to come soon!

Lavender Sachet Project

My friend will be hosting a bridal shower in April and has asked me to make 15 sets of my lavender sachets for her to give as gifts to the guests. We went to the fabric store together this week and she chose these gorgeous colors and patterns. The lavender has been ordered and the fabric has been cut...now it's sewin' time!

My sachets have been selling fairly well on Etsy lately, so I may have to go out and splurge on some more pretty fabrics! I usually sell them in sets of three with the fabric matching, but I like the idea of having three different, but coordinating patterns.

What do you think?

And you know who you are...you faithful blog readers you.

Being Published!

I got this

for making these

for them!

Holiday Crafts is a Better Homes & Garden publication that comes out once a year. It's a holiday crafting magazine that asks individuals to submit particular designs and "how to" instructions for its readers. They contacted me around Christmas sometime and requested this particular project they found while searching sites on Etsy. I sent samples, patterns, step by step instructions, a photo and a bio! They professionally photographed my tags and I can't wait to see how its presented!

Go me!

Another new design

I just finished an order for 75 of these pretty bridal shower invitations and loved the colors and design so much that I decided to create a mock card to add to my shop! Crossing my fingers that others will like it too.
